Hey Guys, me again! :D

I have most of my parts for my first build ordered, or already here, and I just need the last few.

What I have so far is:

Zalaman Z9+
i5 2500K
8GB Kingston grey RAM
600W BeQuiet 80+ Gold PSU
500GB Seagate HDD
Windows 7, monitor, mouse keyboard etc.

So what I need for a £500~ budget is the mobo, GPU, dvd drive, CPU cooler...

I will be using it for gaming (22" @ 1080p btw) and browsing the web, and I will probably be overclocking :p

Thanks

Also it doesn't have to be the full £500, i do not want overkill for my res, and any spare cash could be great.

Thanks

I thought of going with the Extreme 4 gen 3 mobo as it seems a very popular choice..

And thanks ZGA...

What GPU would be perfect for running games on ultra at 1080p?

I know it isn't, but with the new cards around the corner I don't want to be buying these 6xxx series...

And if I was to spend that much on the 560 I think I would go for one of the 448 editions, I heard their performance matches (or just about) 570's...

The Extreme 4 Gen 3 is very popular and it is within budget, it's a great overclocker and is Gen3 so will support an ivybridge upgrade if desired.

Well the Nvidia 580 will be the best performer but it's just not necessary for 1080p. I think the 6970/570 are the best value for top 1080p performance as as you are going nvidia only then 570, the 560Ti 2GB also runs 1080p fine but I think the extra grunt that the 570 offers is worth it (especially for £240!!).

Just get the 570 I specced and dont let anyone give you the "you need extra VRAM bs" at 1080p it's just nonesense with the 570.

Yes indeed.

However i heard the 560ti 448 edition was a good bet with 570 performance?

I'm not that familiar with modern GPUs, but...

I'd consider the 6970 though, it's generally slightly better than the 560ti (and trades blows with the 570) and it's pretty well priced. It's also comparable in price to the 560ti. Plus, the one linked earlier comes with two games you can play or resell.

6970:
