£500 gaming PC help pls :D

Ordered the PC components last night for Monday delivery.
Thanks everyone.
I went for the xigmatek windowed case after the guy on the phone from Overclockers pointed me in the right direction.
Also there was a deal on for the graphics card and i saved 20 quid :D
 
Yes i went with RJC's amd list and windowed case.
I was just reading the reviews and people say they have overclocked the piledriver processor to 5 ghz, that'll be something for me to play with as the future rolls on :D
I'll be getting better cooling later, but i have 3 or 4 pc fans lying around i can use until then.
I'm looking forward to getting the hammer out and nailing all this together :D

Nice system you've got - be sure to get a cooler at some point to overclock it, it can go a lot faster, and it's easy :)
 
Thanks mate i have had a quick look at water cooling, but its bloody expensive stuff, i'm sure it';; come down in price soon enough, until then its cheaper to shove the box in a chest freezer :)
Over clocking is something i reckon i'll be playing with also.
I really cant thank this place or it's people enough, building a pc from scrath is something i've dreamed about doing for 15 years but never had the money or know-how, sort of a dream come true here. :D

Until you overclock the stock cooler will be fine :)

You can get a Corsair H100 refurb for £40 at the moment - and there are loads of good air coolers for less than that too.
 
That's good news, for now i'll be keeping everything standard, it's all new stuff so i want to see how it works and why, get used to it before i start messing around. Mind you, i have to try and remember the password and network name for my router first, and install a million win7 updates av and so on afterwards....
I re-installed winxp once and ran all the service pack updates in one re-boot, it fried my motherboard.
 
You'll get it all sorted in half a day ;) If you need help with building, people on here will be happy to.

I bet within a couple of days the idea of +20% performance will be tempting...
 
It'll be tempting, but i'm a patient bloke and you have to remember that for the last 10 years the fastest pc i have used is this little toshiba laptop or the x-box.
Just having a pc that turns on within half an hour will be amazing for me lol.
 
All the AMD parts were delivered today from Overclockers, they all fit nice and easily in the windowed xigmatec case with plenty of room to spare.
