Hey, for my birthday (in June) I am planning to build a gaming PC. My budget is £500, and I hope to get a PC that can handle the next generation of games (Xbox 720, PS4, etc.).

I've made a quick build, but it may need some improvements!

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI HD 7850 OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Cards with Tomb Raider & Bioshock PC Games £155.99
1 x Intel Core i3-3220 3.30GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £92.99
1 x TeamGroup Elite 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TED38GM1600HC11DC01) £49.99
1 x Xigmatek Alfar Midi Tower Case - All Black £44.99
1 x Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 16MB Cache - OEM (WD5000AAKX) HDD £44.99
1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 430w Modular '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020058-UK) £39.98
1 x MSI H61M-P31-G3 Intel H61 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £35.99
1 x OcUK 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £16.99
Total : £494.51 (includes shipping : £10.50).

If you want to make any improvements, feel free!

Also, you can just tell me if this one is fine, if you don't want to make any changes!

I look forward to seeing your response.

P.S. I am hoping to do some CPU/GPU upgrading in the future, so keep that in mind!

June is a few months ago and Haswell will be out then which should affect things. Either by current gen chips going down in price or by Haswell being affordable and better. I wouldn't plan a build now if you're buying months away. Tech moves too fast.

Twelve weeks is a fair time, but if you're not ordering it until June anyway, it would make sense to wait.

Mind if I semi-jack the thread and quickly ask; I have been out of the computer hardware loop for a rather long time, any kind of guestimate on how much the price of an Ivybridge i5-3570K might drop when Hanswell is out?

If I remember sandy dropped before ivy came out, then went up when It was released (real benchmarks appeared)..

Best time to buy is in the 'on two weeks to haswell stage'.. Or now..
