Hi guys.

Can I have the most powerful gaming spec for £500 please. Need just the base unit but also Windows Vista too. £500 on the lot, including Vista.

do you meen the pc for £500 and vista or he pc and vista for 500? get the W7 RC. its free fior a year and better than vista.

the processor should be able to be overclocked a bit even on the stock cooler

to be hones a complete tower for £400 limits the choices somewhat
 
agreed that cpu is a bit on the weak side for this budget, How about this

Choices are limited at this price point but still possible to put together a decent machine I think
vista 32bit and 64 bit are the same price

the 4850 form my build is £1 less and should perform better widdyst

also you've included a 32bit os, he therefore won't be able to use all the ram and home basic has no aero
 
I did mention at the bottom of my post that 64 bit is available for the same money, 32 bit will show 3.25gb of ram
Lol your right that card will definitely perform better I could have sworn that xfx was a 4850 :)
But I must say a phenom II 720 will waste a C2D 5300 . 6mb of L3 cache will make a big difference
