£500 laptop, Please help me :(

Hey,

Dont know a lot bout laptops, am going to uni next year, basically need a laptopp with 60gb HD, 512mb Ram, and DVD rw.
Gona be used for work, music and DVD's.

Im thinking maybe the Toshiba M50: Celeron M 1.5ghz, 60gb, 512

or

Toshiba L20: Celeron M 14.ghz, 60gb, 512.

However am open to anyother ideas and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I managed to get a Dell Inspiron 630m for £450 a week or so ago. Spec was:

Intel Pentium M 1.73GHz, 2MB Cache
512MB RAM
40GB HD
14.1" Widescreen
DVD RW
Wireless

Can get just over 4 hours use from the battery.
 
Can't suggest which to get, but what i can tell you is go for something with either a P4 M or Centrino processor & 512MB or more :)

Other than that, Toshiba's are very good. Used several in the past, never owned one though :(

Is there such thing as a centrino cpu?

If you can afford it get a pentium m, much better than, well, everything else
