So I work as 1st / 2nd line support in a 500 strong company, in the IT department of 3. My prebuilt machine when I joined a few years ago that their previous support person had is finally giving up the ghost so I've been offered the chance to build my own as my boss knows I've got the rig in my signature so know what I'm doing.
I've put together a few rough builds myself but was just looking for a few other people's suggestions of what to go for in a rig.
It has to have at least 8GB DDR3 RAM and be an i5 or equivalent. I run a dual screen setup that struggles a bit on my current PC so possibly a GPU purely for powering both screens, nothing more. I find myself jumping in and out of large Excel files, Access databases, Remote Desktop connections frequently so it needs to be able to handle multitasking.
Don't need a copy of Windows, preferably an SSD to install OS onto and can use my current HDD as storage for files etc.
Not much leniancy in the budget but could possibly go another £50 or so on top of the £500.
