Hi all i put a post up several months ago for my sister wanting to buy a pc for my newphew (budget was way higher then).
The max budget is low now i'm afraid £500.

Need everything except a monitor as to save a bit of money at the moment we will us his TV.
So need OS, keyboard,mouse,pc.

He will be mainly doing homework but the light casual game and that's it really.

I have no problem in building this as done it loads before i have just never got into speccing a pc to be honest.

Hope someone can help me thank you in advance.

preowned would probably be best value tbh.
a dell/hp/lenovo with a 4770/4790 and then chuck in a cheap gpu like a rx570

Agreed. Lots of pre-loved ex corporate Dell units about with i7's. Drop a mid tier graphics card in (some don't require pcie power <some 1050Ti's for example>) and you'll have a really versatile machine and change from £500.

I've never thought of doing it this way for a budget build, but its actually a really good idea
