I have 500 to upgrade my motherboard, memory, cpu and cooler. Have looked at the overclocked bundles but don't know what to get. I always want to max games out, and now there are some games that are more cpu reliant like grand theft auto 4 and crysis. What is the best i can get for my money peeps, would like some type of quadcore but not certain. Have the money here waiting to order hehe

My current specs.

Vista 64 / windows 7 64
Nvidia 295 gtx ( Not changing now )
700 Watt coolermaster Real Power M700 psu ( Not changing )
Asus P5Q
Wolfdale 8400 dual core with cooler. overclocked @ 3.9
8 gig ddr2 corsair dominator @ 1066mhz

What can i get for my money that will improve my systems performance best for gaming. Thanks guys.

I really don't think you can buy anything worthwhile. Maybe a new CPU but you wouldn't notice a difference in anything but encoding to be honest.

You will notice quite a good improvement on everything. The components used are solid, if you like overlclocking then you can buy it seperately and save a bit more possibley double the amount of RAM to 8Gb like you have now.

Hi Leeroy,
for £500 you could get yourself a nice i5 setup. the i5 750 can be clocked to 4Ghz and will help your 295 to max games out.

Will be perfect unless you want to DIY.

agreed, if its only really used for gaming then an i3 or i5 setup would be more suited, the i7 would have any real gains over the other 2. failing that a cheap quad core and decent cooling and OC that would probably also do and invest the rest in something else.

yeah i think i may get that bundle, either that or one of the i7's. I wont get a ssd though, they are something i wont use my money on, normal hd's do the job. Thanks guys ill have another good look when i get home and let u know what i decide.

lets spend half a grand to not notice a difference, sounds pretty ape**** to me.
id hardly say there would be no noticeble difference mate, u cant say me going from an 8400 which i agree is a great chip for gaming, to one of the better i5 or i7 chips. Im sure it would help the more cpu reliant games massively. Thanks guys for all your helpful opinions. Im going to decide when i get home later tonight and ill post it.
