AMD 3600
MSI B450 "MAX"
Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 3 (Shop around for it, you can find it for £70-80)
The RAM should easily OC to 3600-3800 mhz and the B450 "MAX" motherboards don't need to be flashed to support Zen 2. Definitely don't go for that stupidly expensive 8pack crap someone linked above, you could bump up to a 3700X CPU almost for the price difference between the Crucial and 8pack memory, and the Crucial stuff will be just as fast.
Nice combo but i would have forked out a bit extra for the 3700x
Can't disagree with that at all![]()
Haha love it. After an identical life changing event I can sympathise, difficult to find the time but it’s a nice little escape. Long gone are the days when you could spend all evening gaming.
Very similar upgrade to me, hope you also enjoy it. Make sure you flash to the latest bios, there have been a few over the last couple of weeks.
Is it not even booting to bios?
Try using a single RAM stick (both if it fails the first time) in each slot.
Awesome.
Considering the process you've went through to figure it out, I'd contact the people you bought it from and detail your process, maybe even link this thread. They might send some new stuff out as a gesture of good will while you're still sending your current back.
Glad you figured it out mate, trust me I know that panic when you've spent some cash on a thing you really want and it doesn't work the way you expect. Worse again when money is a little tight due to little ones or wife-strings! =p
I wouldn't even bother oc'ing the CPU itself, the RAM is a definite though.
There's actually RAM calculators out there to help you do just that with Ryzen.

There's a link for you!
That's why I recommended the Crucial stuff, it OC's extremely well, and that's where you gain your numbers where it comes to modern AMD processors.
