Everything tells me a 1080 for the budget or should i be looking at something else?

Also, am I right in saying some 1080's have better memory than others?

Sounds silly but reckon save another £150 and just get a 1080Ti, it's a great card and will last a good while. Considering doing the same from a 290 . I game at 1440p but want a card that I don't have to think about upgrading for years like my 4 year old 290.

I have been putting it off for months now my old 280x is starting to artefact so it needs replacing.

What's the usual performance cycle with nVidia again? The 2070 *should* be about on par with the 1080Ti, the 2080 faster? Then two Titans and 2080Ti 3 months after .

Similar performance to the 1080, likely a bit better in most of the most recent titles and those on the horizon and/or using DX12. Will use more power and run hotter out of the box although can be tobered with some tweaking.

I would say get a good price on a 1080. However with the 1070ti just released, probably worth the saving and just get one of those if your on the market for an Nvidia card.

Personally any discussion of what card to get needs to include what res you expect to game at.

1080p/1200p = 1060/1070
1400p = 1070/1070ti/1080
Beyond = 1080ti

I wouldn’t splash out £500 on gpu when the current ones have been out for as long as they have, I’m using a 290 and have been tempted but I’m holding off. If I was in your position o would buy cheap replacement 7970/280x for about £60 on eBay or the MM and keep hold of your money and wait for next year
