Need an entire base unit, so no need for monitor, keyboard, mouse etc

C2D, 2GB RAM, quiet as possible (looking for the best fan coolers to make it quiet here), attractive case (would like side-window), 80GB would do as just need one for OS + installed programs.

Use: games, encoding, multi-apps etc

What can you come up with?

There's no case or DVD drive, so I'll leave you to find those two. Will end up a little over budget, but it'd be worth it.

Might even be worth getting a cheapo graphics card instead, because all the other DX10 cards are coming out over the next few months and it'd be better if you could get one of those.

Right I'm set on getting that CPU, RAM, Mobo combo. Seems to be recommended often.

About the PSU, I don't mind spending a bit more to get a quieter one. Would you say Seasonic is quieter?

Also I won't be able to afford a DX10 card, as I imagine those will be in the 300+ region. How much will it affect the X1950? £109 is a very good price atm for it.

Well there's 8800's available for *just* under £200 (like £196) - and the 8800 will totally wipe the floor with the X1950.

I did have an X1950 XT, but have downgraded and the money's in a pot going towards an 8900 in a couple months time, if all goes well financially.

I don't know about noise levels on the PSU's... it's upto you if you want to spend more on quieter one though. I'd put the extra money into graphics cards
