500 squid upgrade!

hello peeps,just got back off jollies and me pc is playin up and its time for an upgrade...question is ,im a bit out of touch recently

going from nf3 dfi mobo (754)3400 mobile claw,1 gig geil pc4400,6800 ultra (agp)

so asthis bundle is more or less obsolete now,i am looking for :
graphics
ram
cpu
mobo
ive got 500 at the minute -ish,and am a gamer with a bit of overclocking....
any recommendations?

thx in advance?amd or intel -no preference!

Ive pretty much ordered the same system for my parents today, except I went with an Asus Motherboard.

Im hoping that it will be a step up from their current system - a P4 2.6C, 1Gig ram, Abit IC7 and a Hercules Radeon 9700Pro.

just ordered the above,was gonna get the 6300 but the purchase button had disappeared-outta stock maybe?anyway should be ok,will this lot be ok outta box or does the ds3 require a bios flash ?

Should be good out of the box :)

it gives you a higher multi so you are less likely to be fsb limited. So in some respects yes. However you may not get any higher than 6300's but nothing is guaranteed.

but by the same token the 6300 might not crack the stock 6400 speed!
as you say nothing is guaranteed.... :eek:
