500 to spend, new monitor or GPU?

So, new GPU then save up for a 1440p. Is the 1070 the minimum I should go for. Would a 1060 do me?

at 1440p the 1070 would be noticeably better. The 1060 can do it if you're willing to lower some settings or cope with a slightly lower frame rate, but its worth going for the 1070 in my opinion

1060 Would not be enough for 1440p at good settings. Certainly not as future proof either. Get a 1070 then save for the monitor.

Are the games you play now struggling with your setup?
If not and you can wait, I'd try and save enough to buy both together.
If you just feel like maxing out everything right now on your resolution then gpu first then monitor

Together.

Otherwise, when you buy the monitor, you might find something like a 1080 available for the price you paid for a 1070 now. Keep saving.

GPU First because 1 if you buy a nice monitor now then the 670 may not be able to keep up with a nicer resolution. And your current monitor is IPS so it has that going for it. But yeah buy a GPU then get a monitor later down the line :)

Yes, and this is the RAM 8GB G.Skill DDR3 PC3-12800 RipjawsX Series for Sandy Bridge (9-9-9-24) Dual Channel kit

If you've got a big OC on the chip (4.5Ghz) and can get the memory up to 2133Mhz you should be able to power something something with GTX 1070 level performance.

IIRC that blower cooler on the KAF isn't well regarded.

If you have decent air flow in the case I'd probably go with this.

Overclocked a GTX980Ti gives the GTX1080 a run for it's money.
