Lo all,

Intending to upgrade my gf's aging machine to something a bit speedier, approximately have £500 budget however if by spending a little more gonna have a big increase in performance it would be daft to turn it down. Basically she'll need a new mobo / cpu / memory and gfx card (hopefully got a spare Enermax psu which is ATX 2.0 compliant so no worries there)

So far, I've come up with this:

£162.09 - AMD 3700+ Retail
£76.32 - Abit KN8 Ultra nForce 4 (939)
£64.57 - GeIL 1GB (2x512MB)
£211.44 - Leadtek GeForce 7800GT 256MB

£514.42

Couple of other points, I have no intention of overclocking any part of the setup, I want to keep it AMD and I don't like DFI mobos (though I don't think they even do a budget one?)

I've had a couple of Abit boards in the past which have served me very well and I'm running the GeIL memory in my machine which seems nice and reliable. As for the graphics card, I'd be happy with either ATI or nVidia. Should just add, the PC will be running through a 17" TFT so SLI is of no interest.

Thoughts? :]
