So I have decided to get on a rowing machine.. Never been on one before so figured why the heck not!

Had 3 sessions doing 5k and 2 attempts on 500m so far.

Results after week 1:

Will continue next week but might just do 1 session of 5k and 1 on 500m - feeling pretty knackered this week!

I used to do 2K in 10 mins inbetween weights at the gym which I thought was reasonable! You're knocking off 25% off that time, so depending on restriction it's hardcore!

Thanks guys - I don't really know if my times are good or bad?

I sort of just started rowing so it will take few weeks to work out what my best time actually is I presume? At the moment each attempt is always quicker/better than my previous time.

Both 500m and 5k results were done on resistance set to 10 i.e. the maximum Concept2 rower will allow.

Top guys in our gym are doing 5k at around the 17min mark. You should also test at 2km as this is a pretty standard benchmark distance along with 500m and 5k. Do have a look at Moses link to the purpose of the resistance/drag dial on the rower.

Cheers. I have done 2k in 7:27 but this was without pushing myself as my pacing was way off. Kinda struggled to find the good rhythm as 500m you go full out, 5k you have pace yourself to a degree but 2k was just weird.. (kinda in between)

Will give it a go few more times before I can say what my time actually is.
