Im planning on putting a window in my 500r by simply removing the mesh on the side panel.

Whats the best way of securing a piece of perspex? And is there anything i can put around the edge so it looks abit neater?

Depends...
The mesh is secured to a little lip. Many people Dremel that off and affix the window directly to the inside of the panel with double-sided sticky-tape.
Others do a similar thing, but mount it to the lip, either with tape or glue.

U-Channel edging strip works nice enough.

Google "Carbide 500R window" and have a look through some other people's mods.

Dont think i will remove the lip as if it comes to a point where i wish to sell the case people might prefer to have the mesh so they can attach the fans to the side again so maybe just putting some u channel around could make it look more neat and cover the tabs. Thanks for the help

I had my case for over a year before I finally got round to doing this a few months back. I too decided to leave the tabs on in case I needed to get the mesh back in the future.

3mm thick is the right thickness for the perspex and be prepared to do some fine adjustments on the corners as the corners on the panel are not uniformed. To hold mine on I used some no more nails strips cut down to size. It all looks kind of industrial, maybe in another years time I will have gotten around to fitting some u-channel. :)
