500w enough?

may get a new psu and rig
conroe cpu, p5ne, 8800gts, 1 hard drive, 1 dvd rom, 1 dvd writer, 2 maybe 4 gig ram
will OC it but not to the limits.

a (decent)500 watt enough?

If by decent you mean something like a Corsair then yes.

As long as it can deliver the current requirement for your graphics and CPU you should be ok. My old PSU only put out 14A on the 12v line when I needed over 20A! My current PSU is 50W smaller than my old one but handles everything fine!
