Hi guys,

My PC Power and Cooling modular 500W PSU is on its last legs after four years (seems to make a rattle like something is hitting the fan when it is switched on). I've tried blasting it with a can of air but it keeps coming back. My Google skills suggest something might be shorting and I should get it replaced.

Can anyone recommend any good alternatives for a BitFenix Prodigy Mini-ITX case? Want to make sure the PSU fits :p

Thanks!

A quick check on Bitfenix's website says you are limited to a psu with a maximum length of 160mm so my first suggestion would have been the EVGA Supernova GS 550w as it's only 150mm long but unfortunately it's out of stock here. There are other places though.

Ideally you want fully modular to aid cable management so what about the Silverstone Strider Gold 550w? It's very compact at only 140mm long and get's a good review here. At £80 it's not cheap though and is the main reason that Silverstone rarely get's recommended.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £88.69
(includes shipping: £8.70)

It it was me buying I would be looking around to find somewhere where the EVGA Supernova GS 550w or even the GS 650w (still only 150mm long) is in stock.

Thanks guys! I had been eyeing up the EVGA Supernova GS 550w as I've heard good things about that model so think I'll judge urgency v price.
