Who ended up buying a different 5090 to the one they intended to buy for reasons of buying the less expensive and what did you buy instead

I initially had an Asus Astral on preorder from the barcode place on release day for £2700 and was 120th in the queue system, 2 weeks later i was able to get the FE when it dropped for £1940 ( pre price drop ) ... considering i sold my 4090 FE for £1700 and the absolute lack of stock at that time i snapped up the 5090 FE and canceled the Astral :D

I didn't really have a specific card in mind. I will never a pre-order a graphics card day 1 before i have seen all the reviews, and the day 1 pricing was ridiculous anyway for all non-FE cards. I then went down the 'FE or nothing' route I had a 4090, and finally managed to pick one up 5-6 weeks ago. However, I think if i didn't manage to get an FE then i would have this week bought the Zotac 5090 Solid for the £1880.

Why the Zotac? I have the

Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5090 Gaming OC 32GB GDDR7 PCI-Express Graphics Card in my basket (not in stock at the moment ) and wondering whether i should now get the pallet or zotac being cheaper

It is cheaper than all other 5090s aside from the fugly Palit Gamerock (these two have been available around the FE price), plus it has a 5 year warranty and UK RMA centre (i beleive Gigabyte does too).

Aorus Master was the one I wanted at launch, still haven't tried it yet.

Gone on a merry go round, due to small issues of one kind or another, then decided on a water cooling build, and got the Aorus WB then the kit finally arrives and the pre cut parts are missing, so bailed on that idea

I'm going to end up with a Suprim Liquid/Whatever I see cheapest on auction site or MM once my funds hit my account Monday.

I went the other way, initially preordered the Zotac Solid non-OC. Cancelled it a month later, and ended up with an MSI Vanguard. With hindsight, I want my card to be as quiet as possible, so I'd have wasted money on the Zotac.

Pre-ordering cards with no information just leads to wasted money. Next time, I'll go straight for one of the cards that are reviewed before release day, which if applied to the 5090 release, I would have pre-ordered/joined the chase for the MSI Suprim or Suprim Liquid.

I ended up getting a far more expensive card since the one I was waiting for wasn’t due to ship anytime soon. Not fussed, should get a good couple of years of gaming out of it hopefully before the next purchase.

On pre order here. Who knows when stock might arrive though!
If you want it within a week or so you will be better off ordering direct from EK as they are currently dispatching them to customers within 2 days of putting in an order , another guy had one preordered with OCUK but cancelled as they couldn't provide a date it would actually arrive so ordered direct and its on its way now :)

The delivery and import taxes to me make is significantly more expensive for me though. Im not in a massive rush so will see what happens in the next few weeks.

I've ordered the 5090 solid, I was swithering about buying the white version but the extra £120 put me off and I'm not totally sold on the way the gold looks with the white.
