Hi all,

I have been reading the news recently regarding the issues with the 12v2x6 connector on the 5090FE and I have some concerns about my own card. My understanding is that these issues are coming from people using a 12v2x6 cable on both ends, one connection to GPU and one to a 12v2x6 connector on the PSU. As my PSU does not have this capacity I am using the supplied 4x8pin adapter that comes with the 5090FE.

With my rudimentary understanding of 12v2x6 and the limits of 8pin connectors, I think that there would be no possibility of the full 600w being sent through a single wire as the limits of the 8pin are 300w per 8pin (3 12v, 3 grnd and 2 sense).

My question is, does anyone know how the 4x8pin to 12v2x6 adapter works? I am not an electrical engineer so would really appreciate any info to help me understand the issue more.

Here is a diagram for the 12vhpw used in 4090 with 4x8pin, I imagine it is similar for the 5090?

Thanks in advance,
