Sorry for the new thread but this title is more specific

I have 2 512 sticks but my mobo is only detecting them as 256 sticks

What will sort this?

will i need to reflash the bios or is there something else the problem

mobo is a foxconn winfast - mf8sk8aa Sli compatible one
bios version - 538W1P26 phoenix technologies 6.00pg

Memory is slot 1 - twinmos pc3200 512mbytes
slot 2 - OCz pc3200 512mbytes
it says on the CPU-Z memory page dual channel and 1024mbytes

When i check the SYSTEM icon it shows the correct info for my CPU but only 512 ram
I also ran the program on memoryx.com and it said i had 256 ram in both slots and nothing in the other 2 (which is correct as the other 2 are empty)

I have tried reseating but will give it another go.

Could it be the bios version?

ok dual channel works in either slot 1and2 or 3and4.

Tried both combinations but still only detected it as 512 but if i do it single channel which is 1and3 it detects the 1gig.

Any ideas on this?

do i need to set something in the bios for it to detect the full sticks as dual channel?

On this mobo 1-2 are same colour (dual channel slots) and 3-4 are same colour also dual channel.

Ive even tried setting the memory timings in the bios to that of the slower memory to try and get it on dual but just got the blue screen of death.

I'll wait till i can afford some more ram ( 2GIG ) and get a matching pair thats known to be supported, single channel will just do the now i suppose

As your two sticks of RAM are from two different manufacturers, could it just be that they are incompatible to run dual channel?

In the past I know that Twinmos seemed to have compatibility issues when running like this, when I had some I made sure I bought a matched pair, and had no problems.
