512 shows as 256

I have 3 x 512mb of Kingston Ram, when i put 1 bar in i get 256mb and when i put all 3 in i get 1gb, can anyone explain and maybe offer a solution, my mobo is in my sig.

I'm confused, so try this:

Stick 1 on its own: how much RAM does it say you have?

Stick 2 on its own: how much RAM does it say you have?

Stick 3 on its own: how much RAM does it say you have?

That might be a better place to start

Also what are you using to check how much RAM you have installed??

CPU-Z?
Bios?
Windows?
All of the above?
