Anyone still using a laptop with one of the above cards in?
I just picked up an 512mb FX2500m off Ebay US for £130, really looking forward to it arriving as it should be a nice enough boost from my 256mb 7800go.

Anyone running some of the newer games on them? How do they cope? My native res is only 1440x900 so I reckon that, Crysis aside, I should be able to drag this laptop out for another year running reasonable levels of detail.

Yeah, been looking around at some benchmarks on other sites and it is definately going to be a nice boost over what I've got. Will have to do some fun time plastic cutting to jam it inside the 9400 but anything that drags the lifespan out a bit more is always a good thing.

They're graphic design cards? They ain't gonna play games very well.

edit : the 2500M

Its essentially a 7900GTX with a different bios modified to handle cad software etc better but it plays games just fine. If you dont know what your talking its usually wise not to post  Usually a few frames a sec slower than a 7900GTX but hardly noticeable. Should be a good upgrade for you.

Cheers,

Yeah, I did look around for a while, I was thinking about a bios flash to 7900gtx but since it'll be using modified drivers anyway, there isn't much point.
For the price I couldn't say no really, missed out on one in the UK by a couple of £ a few weeks back, it'll be worth the wait to get this. Aside from a new CPU and a bit more memory there isn't much else I can do, but I enjoy using this laptop and just can't afford to go for the M1730 right now.
