Hey guys,

Posted a few weeks ago about the potential of getting a 330D, but after looking around, comparing costs, checking insurance (), I've also began to consider the 530D.

Been looking at THIS one, and seen it in the flesh too.. Looks good.. A small few niggles, but nothing major.

Is there anything in particular to look for with these? Common faults, etc? Any help/advise appreciated! Thanks!

£8000 for an 8 year old car. Really? It's very expensive becuase it's a 530d, a car which I don't think makes sense as a used purchase at this age. They are not exactly a huge amount cheaper to insure than a 330d either so if that sort of thing makes a difference I can't help but wonder if its the wrong car.

It's not even a great spec, naff reflector headlights, basic climate with black plastic twirly buttons, etc. It's premium priced because it's low miles and a diesel.

:D You make me laugh, Fox!

I knew posting here wasn't a good idea for swaying me towards it! :p What car do I need to post for crowd-approval? :p

What car do I need to post for crowd-approval? :p

Something less hideous than a pre LCI SE E60 :p. Boy is that aging badly compared to an E39?!! That steering wheel:eek: It looks like something out of a 70's American 'futuristic' concept car or something. Bllluueerrrghhhhhh. 8k for that - wow!

Sheesh, they do look old now. No climate on a prestige car makes baby jebus cry:(

I really don't like the E60, it seems to be missing a certain something that makes it just scream BORING!

I'm sure they're comfortable and everything, but...meh. That's it, 'meh', the E60 is 'meh'.

I would say that's come straight from British Car Auctions in Camberly. Would go there yourself and cut out the middleman

Good idea, then you can add potential random issues you'd miss becuase you cant test drive it to the list of fail, too :D Auctions are not even THAT cheap these days either..

A 2005 diesel 530d with that low mileage would fill me with dread at the possible upcoming bills....

Have mine 530d LCI M Sport 57 plate with 97k. Yours for £13000 (forecourt price)...:o

Have a look at Volvo S80s. Hardly a 5 Series but still a very nice place to be. Pre-LCI E60 is not a great car, as said above.

So it is a low mileage minter and has all the mpg and torque?

If it has cheap tax then its an automotive FULL HOUSE, its definitely worth the premium

Absolutely, auctions arent really any good for private buyers. You are much better off going on ebay.
