£55 for modern warfare 2.

look at cod4 after all this time and it still cost 29quid? cmon that's stupid.. but activision knows that all the fan boys will still be purchasing it... what ever the price is.. well i wont x]

I've had this preordered since July for £30 inc next day delivery :)
£55 is a rip off though, but I'm sure some parents will be forced to pay that!!!

I have mine on pre-order for £29.99, the site seems to have bumped it to £34.99 though but on my account its still showing as £29.99. Also got my own 50 slot server for it, power trip ***! :P

apparently activision are charging retailers £50 so forcing the retailers to charge £55.

anyone else heard this? is there any truth in it.

Seeing as some places are charging less than £30, I would say that is DEFINITELY false, unless their buying department is getting ripped off.

From my understanding, AAA titles cost between £12-£16 cost price to the retailer.

The clown you spoke to obviously had no understanding of what he was talking about.

I want to get it on STEAM but am too scared :(

I dont mind paying £10 above retail for the convenience of STEAM and pay for the bandwith etc, HOWEVER if they charge the FULL RRP on STEAM, that is just crazy.

They can set the RRP price at £1,000,000 for all I care, as long as they dont start upping the unit cost to retailers it is not a problem as you will allways be able to pick it up below RRP.

What this will do though is make the **** retailers who charge full RPP like the purple/Pink/blue shirts look pretty stupid when they are selling this PC game for £55 and very few are buying it.

Could be a few more nails in the coffin for bricks and mortar retailers?

Excellent find. Cancelled my original order and reorders for 24 quid!
Infact I ordered two :D

The site I've ordered from its now showing as £33.49, as I ordered when it was £29.99, I get it for that price

Make sure on the sites that are selling it for £25 or so, are not able to up the price just before release and force you to pay more.

Surely those that buy it from highstreet shops or online, would be able to register the game to steam and then play that way? (Like you could do with Empire:TW and Civ4?)

Nope, only certain games can be activated on STEAM, mainly those which integrate STEAMWorks or simply choose to use the copy protection.

Note: Only the retail third-party games listed above can be registered through Steam. No other third-party games can be registered and downloaded using Steam.

Well CoD4 is £30 on Steam, so that should give you some idea.

Mmm, the RRP of COD4 is £39.99 so STEAM is £10 less although I am sure COD4 was more on Launch on STEAM?

So, the current STEAM Price is 25% cheaper. On the same principle, that would make COD:MW2 to be about £40 odd.

I want to get this on Steam. I don't want to buy a disc.

I'm not paying £55 for a new title, sorry, I'll keep playing World at War and CoD4.
