Hi all,

New TV needed, 55 inch, 4K, budget upto £1k

As 4k seems the norm now so looking to get this now although no 4k content currently. May have sky Q in the future. Will be used with PS4 and general day to day viewing.

Any recommendations? will be the main TV in the house so looking for reliability as well as decent picture quality for non 4k content.

Thanks in advance.

will be keeping an eye out - had that set on the radar but it seems its price has dropped from £1299 in the last few days. When is black friday ?

Sorry was lazy, its November 25th i believe. Cant say im looking forward to it, unfortunately this video off the BBC site was taken from my local Asda

Chaos.

But i wont be buying a 40" polaroid tv!

Any thoughts on the Hisense TVs. Avforums seem to give a positive review of the M5500

You can still buy online during black friday for deals, I wouldn't go into a store :D

The hisense TV's are well reviewed and great on a budget but the sammy above should be noticeably better.

Quote from avforums:

I have decided. I have been looking at these threads for a long time
Hisense are too hit and miss. just look at the owners threads. These TVs are cheaper but there are quality issues, some people trying to buy the same TV three times, as the others have had problems.
i am not willing to take pot luck anymore
I looked at the review for the Samsung 55k 7000. it seems absolutely perfect in all areas and including price. It is UHD premium badged unlike the Hisense and is recommended by Netflix and HDR etc... This is my only real viewing
Cannot wait for Hiesense to get their act together and get there TVs certified. its not just others fault. just ask last years owners that are still waiting for software updates that have never happened

I wouldn't buy a Samsung. Had a couple and I wouldn't buy another.

Yes have a PS60F5500, bought 3 years ago and now with vertical green and blue lines - awaiting for samsung to send a replacement.

On the other hand bought a Panasonic 50 inch G10 in 2009 for my parents - still going strong after all these years - great picture quality and colours compared to the samsung.

Will look at that Panasonic peahead thanks for the suggestion.

That was two years ago surely you remember all the fuss surrounding it at that time? Last year however the bubble seemed to have burst and it'd all blown itself out. I'd be surprised to see anything like those scenes again.

On a side note, samsung are sending me a 60 inch KS7000 as a replacement for my 3 year old PS60F550 60 inch plasma. Result!

yep price seems to be dropping, definitely keeping an eye on it.

On another note, i mentioned above the that my plasma had vertical lines, Samsung have agreed to replace it with a 60inch KS7000! Result! Hope they stick to their word!

Result! I had my ps51e6500 taken away by Currys for repair last week after the same problem after 3 years, hoping they say it's uneconomical for repair and I get a replacement/contribution towards a nice new ks7000 series

They will not be able to repair it as the part is no longer manufactured, so yes they should hopefully replacing it with a TV that is an upgrade!
