So, I've had some PPI repayments and the flooring in our front room isn't going to coast as much as we had initially thought.
I currently have a 40" Samsung TV which I've been really happy with, no complaints at all. I'd like to get something newer and larger. I believe that 55" is going to be the "sweet size" for us. I had been initially looking at 49"-50", however 55" I think will work.

I believe the world is moving on to UHD via OLED - can I get this kind of technology from a well respected brand for my £1k budget?
I output to a receiver and surround sound, so in-built sound on the TV is of zero consequence.

Inputs are going to be Sky, PS4.....very basically I may not use the UHD capabilities right away, however I'm not someone who replaces their TV every year or two, so during it's time with me UHD will almost certainly be used.

If 5 year warranties come with said item, bonus. If they don't, then I'd like to choose a manufacturer who will at least sell me one.
With regards TV's, ever since LCD I've either owned Samsung or Sony - I'm not adverse to trying other manufacturers.

Thanks for the responses.
Really didn't know where the price break was on the latest technology.

It looks like the KS7000 is going to be a little difficult to find - looks like it was a 2016 model and a lot of places have run out.
I'll keep an eye on the 2017 models as well, see if they take a price drop - just cannot quite work out which model from the MU range matches those from the KS.

You can still find the Samsung KS7500 about, its the same as the 7000, but its curved. I also looked for a KS7000, but none are available, so I grabbed a KS7500, the curve does not bother me and the picture is unbelievable. Got he 55 inch for £900 the other weekend. This years MU range is not ultra HD certified and I believe does not have quantum dot or the moth eye filer (you have to go up to the Q series). So I don't believe the MU is a replacement for the KS. I would post a link but cannot remember if you are allowed

I posted on to another forum yesterday and they confirmed that the MU series isn't up to the KS series at all, that I would need to look at the Q series - those are silly money right now.
I had noticed that the 7500 and 8500 were around, so maybe I'll go take a look at the curve and see how I get on with it.
I may postpone my upgrade until the back end of the year - we've then got a Black Friday and Cyber Monday which may yield some results and of course the Q series might start dropping too.

Saying all that, the LG line up seems quite impressive and at sensible prices too. I do game on my TV, so need to ensure I get something with a low response time.

Samsung put there prices up this year so that why the Q series is silly money :)

You can pick and LG B6/C6 up for a decent price with 5 year warranty... i game on mine and OLED's response time is 0.1ms and input lag is around 28/30ms depending on model.

I have the 55"C6 btw and love it.

Looking at getting the KS7500, can pick the 55" up for about £860 which seems like a good price. Seen the LG 850v for £729 and just wondering is there that much noticeable difference picture, hdr and quality wise to justify the extra?

I noticed the 7500 is still available and the 8000 & 9000 can be had if I'm willing to increase budget. I really need to go and see those curved screens in the flesh to see if they might be an option.
I'm assuming those can still be wall mounted?
I may well leave things for about 3-4 months and see where we are with regards discounts on the 2017 models. Certainly with Samsung at the moment it's either short supply 2016 models or ridiculously costly 2017 ones.

That's what I was thinking, but I think for the cost and spec of the 7500, it's great for such a feature packed TV. Think it will be a while before the Q series 2017 tv's come down near this price, the cheaper MU series don't come near the spec of the 7 series. Just got to explain to the wife why the extra is worth it over cheaper hdr tv's, so hard when she's no idea lol.

Yeah curved TVs can be mounted. Same vesa mount as a large flat screen (300*300). They look OK mounted if you can't see the TV from the side (ie not mounted on the same wall as your lounge door).

You won't see any large discounts on the 2017 models until Black Friday I expect, and by that time you could save a little extra and buy an OLED...
