55" TV is it too big?

Thinking of purchasing a 55" X90J Sony. At the moment I've a 40" screen that sits within a set of cabinets. The 55" would have to come forward if those, and overlap the edges of the cabinets.

Would it look too big?
Would bias lighting still work?

Hard to tell from the measurements but your current tv seems to have large bezels.

Have you considered a 48 oled tv? Maybe worth measuring up
 
From measuring, the 55" would cover the white sections left and right, and part of the top cross over. Would it look stupid? Just want the biggest I can have that looks ok.

If you have measured the width of you cabinet opening then you can compare that with the width of some 48" or 50" TVs.
