I'm looking for a 55" screen for under a grand. I almost bought the LG 55UB820V, but some reviews are not too favourable so I decided against. I'm thinking at that screen size I'm going to need 4k?

Any suggestions appreciated.

I've been to and fro all day with this!

Think I might settle on the Sony Bravia KDL55W829BBU. £699 from Amazon seems a great price and the reviews are excellent. I like Samsung TVs but I feel the Sony has less focus on the gimmicks and more on the image quality.

I doubt you'll be disappointed

I'm more likely to be disappointed in Amazon's delivery method TBH. All I seem to do with them these days is wait for an order that never comes, and that's having been a big enough sucker to have paid nearly £80 for "unlimited one day delivery".

Yep, you guessed it... no sign of it yet! :p

Out of interest have you complained? Do Amazon seem to care?

I'm tempted by Prime but not if it doesn't actually give you next day delivery :o.

Hope you enjoy the TV :).

I've complained and they couldn't care less. I won't be renewing my Prime.

What Amazon do is claim that it will be delivered next day after despatch. Now, if you order Monday and they despatch on Saturday and you receive it on the Monday which is next working day, then as far as Amazon are concerned you got the service you paid for.

I ordered my TV on Sunday, it got despatched yesterday so it should arrive today. There's no delivery time slot, it just says any time before 9pm.

Going on recent experience, the chances of it arriving today are probably 50/50.

I've not had much of a chance with it. I find the blacks are excellent and overall I am very pleased with it.

I have 2 niggles...

1. There's a little bit of backlight bleed. The wife doesn't see it but it bugs me.

2. The colours are a bit too vibrant, especially with SD TV. In sure a tweak with the settings will fix it, but I just can't get it the way I want it.

Oh, and the 3D is OK but certainly not it's best asset.

Are you ordering before the cut off time? When ordering before the cut off time (it can vary between products) I've always got it the next day... and that even includes Sunday deliveries, nowadays. I'm surprised your experience has been so bad. Mine's always been great, and people often say how if even a single delivery doesn't turn up next day they can contact Amazon support and get a free month added onto their subscription.

It's not been my experience, unfortunately.

Example is a battery charger I ordered for the car recently. The wife waited in all day, it didn't arrive, I contacted them and got told the courier had lost it. I asked for a refund and got it, and he gave me another month of Prime although I asked him not to give me the extra month as the service is hopeless.

Giving me a free month of a service they struggle to honour isn't solving anything IMO.
