So I have a budget of £550 for a new GPU, is a 1080 The perfect candidate?

I’m drawn towards EVGA SC but not sure. What would you recommend?

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,069.48 (includes shipping: £10.50)

EVGA for better RMA and warranty

MSI for a better cooler.

Neither are particularly well priced though, so I would shop around. For example, I can find a MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X+ for £489.

Shopping around isn’t really an option. Our budget is a £550 voucher for a very bad competitor. I’m not happy about it but otherwise a take a loss on amount I receive and likely can’t get a 1080.

Just wanted to know the best coolers. Only reason I’m drawn to EVGA is the customer service. Simply amazing. I’m not a fan of the new ACX 3.0 tho.

The EVGA you were looking at has a decent cooler (not the best) but has the best customer services and RMA.

Would avoid:
All blower cards (loud and run hot)
MSI ARMOUR OC (inadequate cooler)
Gigabyte Windforce (common coil-whine complaints)

The very best coolers are:
ASUS Strix
MSI Gaming X
Gigabyte AORUS Extreme
EVGA iCX (SC2/FTW2)

What resolution are you playing at? The 980Ti overclocked performs as well as if not better than a 1070. The 1080 is the next model up while the 1080Ti can be had for £649.
