i change the EC mode to hybrid and set the ACC to auto, it comes up with the 'updating firmware' message, then turns off. but doesnt restart, and when i hit the power button to turn it back on, nothing at all happens. its only when i take the power cable out of the psu and put it back in i can turn it on again and everything runs as normal with the EC and ACC as i left them. windows doesnt seem to recognise any changes in number of cores though so im thinking that the 3rd and 4th cores are faulty? or the psu cant output enough power?

cpu is phenom X2 555 BE and motherboard is Gigabyte 880GM-UD2H rev 1.3

Right, i reinstalled windows and now both cores have come up again so thats all good. but still unsure if i even can unlock another two or whether its just a dual core.

the bios looks like this:

should it say core2 and core3 enabled/disabled under core control or does the lack of it mean i dont have the other two cores to enable?

well tried everything above, nothing. the only options for cores 2 and 3 are in the ACC bit. nothing else comes up in cpu core control. has anyone got a picture of their same bios screen so i can see what im supposed to have there?

failing that, i guess if i want more speed im guna have to OC. cheers for the help though guys

core control just has auto or manual, so i can enable or disable the core1 (in the image above)

and ACC has auto, disabled, all cores or per core, and can change the percentage of the 0-3 cores showing.
