Just looking for a bit of advice on a new graphics card. I'll be gaming on a 18" monitor so resolution will only be 1440 x 768 (i think?)

My question is which card will be able to run battlefield 3 at a decent setting ( high if possible )

I had my eyes on the 560 / 560ti or the HD6850 - wanted to spend as little as possible but didn't want to sacrifice too much gaming quality. Do I need the higher specced 560ti to play at the relativley low resolution or do you recommend any alternatives ( was hoping to get down to about £150 for the card)

I am also ordering the below parts ( I already have HD, case, PSU etc. )
Which graphics card will suit me the most?

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM £167.99

Gigabyte Z68MA-D2H Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard Gigabyte Z68MA-D2H Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £104.98

Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9) Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9) £47.99

Get a 560Ti :)

EDIT: When I come to making my rig I'm gunna be sticking an HD 6870 in it, but thats due to my budget. If you can afford the 560Ti I would definitely go with that

For that resolution I don't think you'll really need the 'ti' version, though always nice in case of a future monitor upgrade. However, I can't see a 560 or 6850 not being up to the job. If you do narrow it down between the 560 and the 6850, then I'd go for the 560. It's a bit faster than the 460 - which is on par with the 6850.

i can assure you, once you start gaming, youre gonna want better.
so my suggestion would be to go for a 560ti.

however, if you still dont want to spend and learn the hardway, you can pick up a gtx 460 for about £90.

this way you can have great graphics at your lower rez.

Cheers for the replys.

Is there much difference between manufacturers of the same model of card. I was looking at the options for the 560ti ( i think im going to go with this and save up a little more for them)

I see an Asus one for £157 inc. Vat

Or the MSI one ( better cooling on this one I think?)

I Also notice some are 2Gb memory, Does this really apply at the resolution I am running at?

Thanks.

id go with the msi card asus terrible after sales can wait months for it to be sorted if theres a problem other card to consider are gigabyte and evga

I've just bought very similar setup to you and ended up going with the EVGA 2GB 560ti and it's awesome i've not found anything that I can't play at 1080p with everything cranked up to the highest possible settings.

It's crazy good!
