5600g vs none g

I'm buying a 5600 and the G can be had for £25 less is there any reason why i want the none G chip?

having an iGPU is always nice to have for trouble shooting but is there is a reason to go none G like more more head room for clocking more cache things like this
Is the G held back in some way?

The 5600G has no PCIe 4 support and has half the L3 cache.

The 5600 non-g is actually a fair bit faster & better than the 5600g, so unless you need the graphics I'd go for the non-g.

5600g is really more like a 5500 with graphics.

As said above, the 5600 is a better CPU, don't get the 5600G unless you're actually using the IGP.

see on paper they have everything the same... this is why it always best to ask.
i assume to boosts higher? or the chips as something the G chip doesn't?

The important difference is that the X is chiplet based (Vermeer), while the G is a monolithic APU (Cezanne).
And for most games having double the cache is a huge thing.

However, there some (but not many) applications where the lower latency off the monolith design makes a difference. Thing is that's very rare to almost none existent.

The APUs are very much mobile first, second, and third hence the lack of PCIe 4.0. For desktop that makes little sense (and wouldn't take up much die space), but for mobile every watt counts.

I'm sure I've seen plenty of X570 boards with display output though.

If I recall correctly, wasn't this more of a pronounced difference with Zen 2, because e.g. a 3x3 configuration of CPU cores was possible, but with Zen 3 the 5600/5600X and 5800X are just a 6 or 8 config, or supposedly 6/0, 8/0? I understood that was part of the reason the 3300X performed so well, because it wasn't 2x2, unlike the 3100.

What a weird thing to say, just yesterday I was testing an MSI X570 Tomahawk with a 4650G and the onboard HDMI to check if the board was faulty or not, must have imagined the HDMI port that I plugged the cable in to.

I didn't think X570s had display out, most of them don't, must have come in with later boards.

Edit - ignore me, must be getting old. My release day X570 has an HDMI port!

Age gets to the best of us sadly. Still at least you know your board has an HDMI port now if you ever need it.

It's that half the L3 which is a big one for gaming, the 5600G is about the same speed in games as a 3600 though the 5600 is about 20% faster providing you have a high end GPU and game at 1080p, if your sticking with the 6600XT I doubt you'll see much of if any difference for gaming though between a 3600 and 5600.

My X570 Aorus Pro has hdmi out.

at what the 6600xt cost it will be in the system for another 12 months or more.
in that case i will stick with the 3600 and pick up a 5600/5700 used in a year
