Hi,

My son is wanting a new gfx card for xmas, he currently has a 290x which is showing it's age.

From research, it seems the 5600x is the 'best bang for the buck' (for 1080p gaming), but I've read of people having lots of issues with them, has that been resolved now?

Any information or recommendations for other cards appreciated

Cheers

The big problem with these RDNA 1 cards was the drivers that they rushed out before testing the new features properly. The big problems I am aware of is radion enhanced sync which is still being worked on . Don't turn it on and you'll be fine and sesitivity to crap cables. You paid hundreds for a new card and monitor and are using some scanky cable. 10 quid quality cable and your golden.

Thanks eeii, am I right in thinking this is a good card to go for at the moment for the price-performance ratio? It seems similar to a 2060, they seem to cost a fair bit more though

This is a big problem at the moment I’ve not seen since the mining boom most cards are terrible value at the moment. We are in a situation of big changes as new cards are coming out at the mid to lower tier early next year from both camps. Your not going to like this but I would hold on until the there is plenty of stock and the prices come down to sensible levels. So in answer to your question is this a good card yes. Is it currently good value no.
