My PC is used solely for gaming, current specs are:

Case - Sliger S620
CPU - Ryzen 5600X (Undervolted) with Noctua D15S
Motherboard - Asus B550 ITX
GPU - 4070 Founders Edition (Undervolted)
RAM - 2x8GB 3200 TridentZ RGB
Storage - Adata SX8200 PRO NVME 2TB
Storage - Adata SX8200 PRO NVME 1TB
PSU - Corsair SF750 Platinum
Monitor - Dell S2721DGF 1440P/165hz/G-sync

It appears that the cost to upgrade would be around £160-£180 taking into account the sale my my current CPU. I play a huge range of games, anyone made the same jump? Appreciate any feedback.

I found upgrading from the same CPU a benefit. Games feel smoother. And it pushes my RTX 3070, at 1080P. For example, in God of War.

At 1440p, you are at that mid-tier where GPU scaling and CPU scaling both make it a minor improvement, over the 5600X.

For example at 4k, you are mostly GPU (graphics) bound and the CPU has less effect. However at 1080p (my resolution), you are more limited by CPU.

Because you have a high refresh monitor, I think it would push the RTX 4070 more. High refresh likes a good CPU. The 5800X3D may give that extra ommph to your set-up.

i dont think it is worth it right now. may be a couple of years down the line, but then you may be looking at a platform upgrade as opposed to just in socket.

its hard to say how long a piece of string is...literally when it comes to PC hardware.

I think the best is just to cater for your current and immediate need. future proofing is almost certainly will cost you more now than making that purchase as when you need it.

i am running a 5900X and a 3070ti, and even though im limited to 8gb VRAM, i still get good performance at 1080p, 1440p and 4K.

I know (assuming nothing goes wrong) this system will see me, for a next upgrade, at least another year or two.
