Hi guys

I am looking to upgrade to AM5 soon. I play COD BO6 and Borderlands at 1440p 240hz. I only really use my pc for gaming.

I have a 9070 xt and would love an x3d chip, but just cant afford it. As an alternative im looking at the 9600x and 9700x. Is it worth an extra £100 for the 9700x?

Thanks

I did think about that, but the mobo is almost 7 years old now and a few things have started to stop working. I dont really want to throw any more money at it.
Then I probably would go a 7600 or x or until prices drop and you could save further to get an x3d.

9600x is only 1% faster than the 7600x on average.

and the 7600X isn't THAT much faster than the 57/58 X3D generally. If you don't NEED to upgrade then maybe hold off for as long as you can.

I get what your saying, but the 9600x is less than £10 more expensive.

It the mobo's health thats pushing the upgrade really. Not sure if its worth going 9700x over the 9600x.

I am in same position a couple of month ago when I had some spare has but I have the 5800x3d and is still stand up to the amd5 when they test most games so I stayed with that...for now

Definitely a 7700 from ebay. Similar performance to a 5800x3d in 90% of games.

When I moved from AM4 to AM5 earlier this year, I actually sold my 5800x3d for £300, which was enough for an AM5 motherboard and a 7700. Used AM4 motheboards also fetch a bit of money.

9700x is almost identical in games, so a waste of money if you only care about gaming.
