at those prices i wouldnt go for either and would wait for the full prices on the 7xxx series to come out since they look like they are gonna oc like beasts

aye but thats for the 7970, what about the other models in the series not to mention the possibility it wil drive down the prices of a 580, not saying it will be hey why not hold off for a few weeks and find out rather then kick yourself if it does.

A few weeks I can do :)

But I would still be interested to know peoples opinions on my original question.

Thanks.

Im in the same boat. Im looking to upgrade from my 4870x2tri fan but im over doing it on the research and feel like I change my mind every day.
All cards I like seem to be the MSI ones. Reason for this is the OC on them and the sheer look of class. Ive looked at the MSI 6970, MSI 560ti frozer 2, MSI 560 Ti frozer 2 with 2 gig and MSI 448.

Im not running 1080p yet but might do in the future. I play Skyrim and BF3.

Weird thing is since changing my rig to an i7 2600 and 12 gig ram my 4870x2 plays all games really well. Bf3 all on high settings with great FPS. Skyrim High. But I feel im now missing out on the eye candy of dx11.

I'm in exactly the same boat. Asked a similar question myself not too long ago to be fair.

The general consensus is too hold off until the new AMD series is released and hopefully, this will in turn encourage price drops in the Nvidia range, although one can never be sure.

Personally, I've been following the "448" MSI with much interest and I believe it o'clocks very well.

It's currently cheaper than a 570 and when o'clocked runs faster than it. Vram isn't much of a big deal if you are gaming at 1080p and I believe issues would only occur if you game/run at much higher resolutions or are contemplating dual monitor setups or more.

This is not from my own experience but from what I have gathered. Other members may be able to confirm this.

In general, wait and see if prices drop then re consider your options in the new year. I am :)

Purchased the MSI 448 560 earlier this week.

Amazing card, OC'd to 950mhz clock 1900 shader and 2260 memory (1.15v core) with MSI afterburner and has been stable through anything ive thrown at it and at those speeds is beyond the 570, currently playing around to see what more i can get out of it but im more then happy with what it gives me now :D.

VRAM is a non issue here as the 560 448 and 570s all have 1280mb ram

Out of the ones you mention there the Asus GeForce GTX 570 DirectCU II 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card is the best one out of them and is also the coolest and quietest. I have the 580 version of that card and it is great.

Thanks everyone.

Out of the three cards I listed it seems the consensus is on a 570 and the Asus was mentioned so thats the front runner but is it as good as the MSI which seems to get so many rave reviews on this site.

Also bare in mind what davewllms said about his overclocking of the MSI.

In other words is going for a 570 Asus still a better idea than going for a 560ti (448) MSI considering build quality and overclocking potential.

Many Thanks.

depends on the oc potential of the asus 570, if you can match the gains i got with the 560ti then it should be the better card.

Reading a review of the asus 570, oc potential is there but not the same as the MSi 560, comparing 3dmark11 scores they got of P6033 with my P6718 I scored last night you can see the difference, albeit my i5 2500k @4.4ghz is prob some way ahead of the Core i7 960 @ 3.2GHz they used.

I went for the 570 2560mb myself for now, but only because I hear bf3 is vram thirsty.

It has taken ages to arrive though so I still may cancel lol, but ignoring the new cards that is my first choice at the right price.
