Ok here is my question:

Is it possible to SLI My current 560ti MSI HAWK 1gb with another 560ti but a 2gb version? I was wondering as they are both the same card but one with larger memory.

no

any 1GB card can SLI with any other 1GB card but not a 2GB

iirc this used to be possible and they would both run like the lower of the 2, but the option no longer exists in the nvidia drivers

in BF3 and Skyrim you will hit a VRAM limit before the 2nd card becomes useful

when I first bought BF3 I had a 560ti and could only run "high"... I tried 560ti SLI and I couldn't enable any extra settings on SLI than I could on 1 card... when I ran Afterburner and looked at VRAM usage I could see that on "high" it was using ~900mb... as soon as I enable ultra textures, or MSAA it would go above 1000mb and I'd get loads of stuttering and FPS dips

even the developers of the game have said that Ultra is designed for 1.5GB+ cards

imo, you will be better of selling the 560ti and getting a better card with more VRAM

if you can stomach it, you could start trying to sell the 560ti now and see what the 660ti brings to the party - or save up for a 670

by the time you sell the 560ti you wouldn't have to add too much more to get either of these cards and they'll perform much better at higher settings than 560ti SLI would

Thanks for the info andy, Im tempted after looking at the rumour of the price of the 660ti to get it. Once the official information is release I will Sell my 560ti to a family member - he has 2x550tis in sli currently.
