560ti sli to 7970 matrix?

So I've got the upgrade itch again and I'm wondering if I'd see a decent increase going from 2x2gb 560ti sli to the matrix platinum 7970? The main reason for upgrading is because I want rid of SLI.

Admittedly, I've put down a deposit for the R9 290X, but if the 7970 gave a decent enough boost I might rather save the money on the 290X and spend it on something else (like games).
 
On the other hand... I've been reading the HIS 7950 IceQ is a good deal. The reason I don't like SLI apart from compatibility issues, etc is because the of the heat and noise generated. My 560ti's sound like a plane taking off when I run FF14 ARR and it drives me insane.

Can I expect 7950's in CF to run cooler and quieter? Would they fit in my Asrock Z68 extreme4 mb? Thanks.
