570 or 480?

Vapor-X, custom cooler so not a reference blower style cooler, I could go get myself an aftermarket cooler and hit max 70c temps and silent fan when gaming. But I don't need to because it's not that loud or hot.;)

I done exactly this when i bought the Gelid Icy Vision Cooler, ultra quiet and temps were 65-70c max if i remember right when i had a 480.

I didnt need to buy a 580 at all really the 480 was and still is one of the best around,oh well :)

I thought you got the Zalman?

I did, I have it for sale on MM lol, my XFI sat right below the fan intakes restricting airflow too much, I love my quality sound so I went back to stock cooler which as I have stated is perfectly fine in a decent case.

Lets be honest the 480 IS technically the better card clock for clock.

You can get a "Inno3D i-Chill Hawk Graphics Card Cooler for GTX 480 Cards" for the measly sum of £20 making it cool and quiet!

WIN WIN!

You can get a "Inno3D i-Chill Hawk Graphics Card Cooler for GTX 480 Cards" for £20 also making it also cool and quiet!

And its only £20.42 thats super cheap.

GTX480 is a better spec card end of but you need to buy either a Zalman or Gelid HSF as well so add another £35 on top to purchase price. Not buying a HSF means higher temps/noise as the Nvidia stock HSF is frankly a joke & not fit for purpose.........

I would still go for the 480 as it has 300 Mb VRam more as well as much higher memory bandwidth speed so the HSF you buy will allow you to overclock heavily which will make it around 10-15% faster on air than a stock GTX570 (and you still have more Vram so will get another boost from that with max IQ settings).

Have you thought about a cheap 6950 and bios mod to 6970? That will give you round about the same performance as 570 for much less cash!

That doesn't make sense, If it was perfectly fine then why go for the zalman in the first place?

That would be like me saying 'the stock 6950 cooler is perfectly fine' which like most coolers on high end cards are anything but fine, imo most are hot and noisy!
