For all those in the know, is there a massive difference in these cards, my current system is getting too old now, 9800GT, Intel x6800 Extreme, you get the idea, and its going for a complete overhaul, i was going to do it back in Feb but then the new Intel boards had that fault, alas they seem to be newer ones out now, and i was going to wait until June, but my current GFX card is possible on its way out, so

Looking at the newer cards, the 590 is nearly x2 the price of the 570, but the new monitor i plan on getting is the U2711 , so would the 570 be powerful enough, and if not would a 580 cover it, or is the 590 on the only card powerful enough to run it,

I dont tend to play many FPS games anymore, its more MMO etc, but i wouldnt rule out FPS completely.

(( The new card will be an Nvidia, i wont use ATI, its a personal preference thing ))

Thanks for the fast reply mate,

Is there any 580 that is slightly better than or worse then the other, Asus, MSI etc, i was looking for an EVGA one but OCUK dont seem to have any.

I think the GTX580 is on the edge. It depends how much you mind not running at full settings on certain games. A 6950 2GB would be 'enough' at 2560x for the majority of games at full settings, but would suffer on the 'top-end' games like Crysis and Metro, though admittedly no cards can play Metro smoothly at full settings at 2560...

avoid the 590. Until Nvidia fix the power phase problems, there is always the chance that the card will go pop, regardless of whether you overclock or not.

Possibly go two 570 sli? The gtx480s are great cards at the moment, but the reference ones are hot and loud, and the Gigabyte cards (which aren't hot/loud) exhaust the heat back in the case, necessitating good cooling. The 570 stock coolers are far better, and they are nowhere near as hot
