Hi there,

I'm thinking of upgrading from my ATI HIS 6870 to an EVGA 570GTX graphics card to give my BF3 a little more oomph. My only concern is that I built my current rig as a specifically 'mid-range' budget built in 2010 and only put a standard Corsair 650w PSU in here. I understand the 570GTX sucks about 350w of power on load. Will I need to upgrade my PSU as well?

Cheers.

The PSU should be fine for a single GTX 570.

350W is getting on for the power consumption of the whole PC with a GTX 570 in it.

Which particular Corsair model is it?

Your current PSU should be fine.

Do give you a idea my system in sig pulls 500w form the mains at full load.

It's a standard one - not a TX so the performance rating isn't as good. It doesn't have any specific 'line' name to it as the TX performance or modular ones do - it's just a Corsair 650w standard. Didn't cost a lot because I was on a strict budget at the time.

Have you considered waiting for the AMD 7xxx series cards due December/January?

You'll probably get a card with similar performance to the GTX 570 for less money or better performance for the same money.
