570GTX too hot?

Hey chaps.

Was after a bit of advice.

I currently have two GTX 570's Sli'd in my system. One is a standard MSI, while the other is a Asus DirectCUII.

What I was wondering is whether 55 degrees C and 57% fan speed is fine when idling on the MSI card?

For comparison, the Asus is doing 38C and 16% fan speed, albeit with it's non reference 3 fan setup.

On load, the MSI manages about 81C, so I am not too bothered about that, even though it sounds like a jet engine.

I was just wondering if anyone can compare my temps to theirs and tell me if it is ok. Reason I ask is that I could swear my pc has got louder recently, although that could be my imagination :)

Oh, and both are stock, no overclocks.

Thanks.

Whats your motherboard spacing like, and what card is positioned where on the board. In an sli setup it's normal for the top card to run a bit hotter than the bottom one.

Thanks for the replies.

Motherboard is a Asus P8Z68-V Pro, with the MSI in the top slot and the Asus in the middle.

I would swap them around, but the Asus is a 3 slot card, so it would be virtually touching the other card if I swapped them round.

could also use Afterburner to set up a custom fan profile so the fan ramps up a little more on the hotter card at idle to keep it a tad lower if a few more rpm is un-noticeable.

Definately too hot. I run an Asus reference and a EVGA HD model.

I originally had the window on my case (600t) And they were idling at 40*C with the EVGA card maxing out at 89*c. Bare in mind this was with only one single 200mm intake. Due to it getting warmer i decided to replace the side with the mesh panel + 2 fans. Temps dropped to 35*c idle and 70*c max under load (Both cards under).

I think your best bet is to increase the airflow onto the gpus a little more, there is a fan that clips/connects onto the case anywhere and can be bent into position, but im not sure who produces it.

TL:DR - Airflow, sounds like you need better airflow.

Krony, I could use Afterburner, but since this issue originally appeared cause I thought my pc was getting too loud, I am not sure more fan rpm is what I need :) Will try it though and see if it is worth it. Thanks.

Chrisbes, well, they are currently housed in a Xigmatek Elysium, so space isn't a issue :) Oh, and the fan you are talking about, it is the Antec SpotCool. Already have one pointed at the back of the MSI.

The Elysium does have space for a few more fans, so perhaps a couple of low noise, big fans could be in order.

Those temps are fine, my wait for it pair of GTX480`S LOL run 55c+ idle and 85c most games with bf3 hour session taking them to 90c both cards.
And if you think yours sounds loud 2 x 480sli @ 90% fan sounds like a boeing taking off :P

Your GTX 480's run about the same temp? Now I know something is wrong :)

Nah, but seriously, I don't mind the noise at full load since I am usually playing a game with headphones on and can't hear it.

It is just that I thought it was getting a little too loud and hot when it idles, especially against the Asus. Still, maybe I am just getting paranoid in my old age :)

whats your case and airflow setup?
any pics?
i had same problem with mine but cards were sandwich together after using my 1-3 slots give them room to breathe temps came down , just :D

With reference cooled gtx 470's, im getting idle temps of 39-38c, antec spotcool behind the top card to keep temps even. In bf3, they hit about 67-66c, but im using a frame rate limiter in the game, set to 59fps. Helps keep temps and noise down.

Changing cases this week, (bitfenix shinobi xl). So it'll be interesting to see how gpu temps are in a new case.

ilovetechno - the case is a Xigmatek Elysium. Sorry, no pics of the current setup. Fan's are standard, which is 2 x 120mm in the front, 140mm rear and 200mm side panel. Like I said before, plenty of space for more fans, so perhaps that is the way to go. Space wise, they are pretty similar to Setter's, except my bottom card is 3 slot.

Setter - I have exactly the same Spotcool behind my first card in the same place. Brought temps down about 4C. I would use a frame limiter, but I am not that bothered by the sound when playing games. It is just when I am sitting browsing that it seems a little loud. I am also interested in how your new case works out. :)

Thanks both.
