I was thinking of getting a 670gtx or 680gtx to replace my 570gtx.
But would i be better buying a 2nd hand 570gtx and Sli them for about £100 then skip the 6xx all together and wait for 7xx?

Or just lower the settings a bit and stop being impatient cos the 570 is still pretty good?

Play at 1080p
And would an Antec quattro 850 psu run these.

Thanks

670. You'll probably be VRAM limited with two 1.25GB cards.

Alternatively the 7950 from AMD is a touch faster than a 670 (1-2%) and is cheaper.

SLI will come with more heat and noise. It is always better to have one powerful card instead of two semi powerful ones.

The 670 is a great card and is close to the 680 in performance. Like Rusty said, "1.25GB of VRAM will be a limiting factor in most newer games at 1080P" and doubling the cards doesn't double the VRAM sadly.

If you could sell the 570 for a decent price, it would make buying the 670 seem much cheaper :)

You will get people who tell you to get the 7950 and maybe better to ask advice on other forums.

I made the move from oc'd 470's in sli to the 670. Vram was becoming an issue, not to mention the noise, heat and power use. At stock speed, minimum frames went up, lower maximums, (easily sorted with an oc). But the major benefits were not having to worry about vram, able to max out bf3. And a very substantial drop in noise and power consumption.

The 7950 and 670 are pretty similair, you need to ask yourself if there are specific features from nvidia that you require, ie physx, or 3d.

Might give the 7950s a look are they any better than the 670s or just cheaper
Looked over reviews and the 670 look about the best for the money.

Would there be any benefit of looking at a 4gb 670 gtx?

What would a decent price be for selling my evga 570 gtx?

Just seen 2 go on a certain auction site for £150 and £145 with p&p
Would be nice but surely you can get a new 660 with 2gb of ram for close to that.

Is it just rumors that the next gen card will not be out till the end of the year or official?

Thanks

AMD look to be releasing late this year early next year. Traditionally they've always released in advance of Nvidia.

The 7950 is equal to a 670. Unless the reviews were before latest 12.11 / 13.11 drivers then they are a bit off.

The 7950 is the best for the money. It achieves the same thing as the 670 for less.

Only get the 670 if you:

- Want PhysX
- Need CUDA cores
- Are a fanboy :p

On the 4GB note. You only need 4GB if your running 3 monitors. And then you would need at least SLI 670's to run at that res anyway.

Not really a fanboy this is my first nvidia card.
To be honest its ran perfectly so would like to stick with nvidia.
Had a 4870 which was ok but had a few driver issues and a 2900xt which was not good at all.

Are they on top of there drivers now or still abit slow?

AMD are on top form with their drivers right now. They have signifacntly improved with the latest 13.11 drivers.
