5770 -> 7850?

Hi Guys,

I wanted to upgrade my gfx card from my current Sapphire Vapor-x 5770 to the Sapphire 7850.

Before I go ahead just wanted to check if I was making the right choice. I was looking to spend around £200. The card is currently paired with a 965 BE.

yeah i would go for it,uses one 6 pin power connector

a cheap used 5870 would be another good choice around £100,i upgraded from 5770 to 5870,the 7850 beats it though

It is the right choice. The 7850 is the fastest sub £200 available, being roughly on par with a 6970 but having much greater overclocking headroom. It will be a nice upgrade from a 5770.

If the OP has the money for a 7850, it is definitely the better buy. Plus he could get ~40 quid for his 5770 as well.

I went from my 5770 to the 7850. It's definitely a noticeably worthwhile upgrade; go for it

I went from a 5770 to a 5850 and it was very noticeable. The 7850 overclocks like it has drank 10 cans of red bull + taken speed so you'll get your moneys worth for sure.
