Hi there everyone,
I have some questions regarding the 5770, I bought this card and installed it on a Thursday. I had overclocked it just slightly (not over 960 on core and underclocked the memory). The temperatures seemed to be fine. Before the following weekend (just over a week) artefacts began to appear while just browsing the web. It usually disppears if I close the current window I'm working in, and open it again.

Thing is, when the card arrived it seemed as if the box had been opened already. The sticker on the fan was half peeled off and also one of the taped sides was cut open (as if it had been opened and possibly even used). I couldn't wait to use it so didn't think that the card could be faulty.

Now I know overclocking a card pretty much waivers your warranty but where do I stand with this being such a new card?
Does it sound like this card is faulty? Am I able to RMA it to overclockers?

Thanks for reading, I appreacite any advice.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, since this first happened (almost a week ago) I have not O/C'd the card at all. It's happening now on just one internet tab - lots of yellow blocks. I closed it and all other windows are fine.

Edit to add: After that the whole Internet window started flashing blue blocks at the bottom. I am currently downloading the newest catalyst drivers (11.6) wonder if thta will help? I doubt it because it seems like a hardware problem not software right?

What power supply are you using? I have had similar problems with my 5770 and it was down to my power supply not being able to handle it :/

My PSU is: Coolermaster eXtreme Power 650W
It should be plenty to run it on.

Yesterday I downloaded the new catalyst drivers and also reseated the GPU and I haven't noticed any problems since, but from what I did experience - I think that my card is going to have a short life, that makes me sad and annoyed =(

Not able to test it on another PC, what could I discover if I did that?
Will I be able to RMA the card even after using MSI Afterburner?

Thanks for the advice.

Testing in another pc is ensure software is not coursing issues and any possible hardware faults.

I would not mention regards afterburner when RMA the card, mention it failed during usage.
