5770 Crashes when under no load

Hi all,

I built a rig out of some spares I had kicking around for a friend.

Its a Q6600 cpu, 4GB DDR2 with a 5770.

shows in device manager as ATI RADEON 5770, but if i try to update the driver the res will change, and the delete the driver after 15/30 seconds.

It runs hot, and low fps on games running on these old drivers. but I cant seem to update them.

does anyone have any ideas please?
