5770 crashing a lot

Hi guys,

I recently upgraded my graphics card from a Radeon 4850 HD to a 5770 HD. It basically started to provide me with blue screen crashes from my desktop and freeze up crashes directly from games.

I was advised that my old PSU (450w) might not be powerful enough to cope, so I upgraded it and got a 650w PSU installed this morning. I also did a complete format and reinstal of windows 7 x64.

Althought the blue screen crashes are gone (touch wood). I installed Fallout New Vegas, which ran perfectly on my 4850, and within 5 minutes it froze forcing a ctrl-alt-del.

I've been scouring the internet and there seem to be hundreds of people with problems relating to the 5770 cards.

Has anybody here managed to solve the problems, or does anyone have any suggestions of what I should do?

@ricky: It's a Powercool eXtreme Power 650w. I am almost positive that the power supply isnt the problem now tho, the power demands for a 4850 and 5770 are almost identical.

@Cleeecooo: I asked if that might be a problem a few days ago, but was told it's almost certainly not the issue.

I had this issue with my 5770, I initially thought it was a lack of power from my 400W PSU, but it worked fine even with my clocked quad core.

The issue for me came from the sound section. I had to go into control panel and disable all audio devices and recording devices aside from the one I was using (Speakers).

Doing so fixed my problem, hopefully the same will happen for you
