Hi Guys. I have been pondering over a graphics card upgrade for awhile now and had almost decided on a HD 5850. However, with stock very limited I started to look into the HD 5770 and the possibility of crossfire. My Motherboard does support crossfire but is fairly old now and only supports 2x8 PCI-E when running crossfire. My question is basically would crossfire still be worth it or would this reduction in bandwidth basically cripple any gains to be had. The motherboard is an MSI 975X Platinum PowerUp Edition. When this was released you had to use dongles and a mastercard for crossfire so would this also be a problem? I don't want to upgrade this as I'm quite happy with my Q6700 at the moment. I would be gaming at 1920 x 1200. Cpu is @3.2Ghz. Any Help would be much appreciated.

Just wait for a 5850, your res is high CF 5770's means you cant upgrade unless you buy a new card but one 5850 still leaves the ability to buy another when they are cheaper
