5770 hdmi sound

looking to add a 5770 to an htpc to allow for some gaming on it. Now i understand the card has an audio chip so both sound and graphics are outputted through the hdmi. What im not sure about is if when plyaing movies with dts or other hd digital sound, is this sent decoded? In other words can i connect the rig directly to tv and use the tv for sound output? the Tv wont decode the dts so i need it sent already decoded as i dont want to pass it through a receiver. tx.

I don't know what you are on about,whenever I've plugged the hdmi into the telly I never had a problem with sound

(granted I forgot to switch hdmi to default sound device).

For me it's always just worked, don't know how much that helps but I'd assume it means the sound is decoded

seems you set it via the soundcard control panel to the output you want.
